Tapestry Room Restaurant

Housed in a row of 1850’s buildings, this restaurant may have ties to the underground railroad. Ever since the establishment opened, staff and diners have been reporting strange phenomena. A former cook would often hear furniture moving around when there was nothing out of place, and an electrician conducting repairs swore he saw a disembodied pair of legs ascending the staircase.

  1. I did not know anything about this area. Last night , after 10pm, I was driving a charter bus down route 4, heading back to Springfield, IL I heard a woman’s screams, When were Downtown by some old buildings. I had a bus full of high school boy wrestlers, the heat on full blast, the diesel engine. Then about a mile down the road I heard it again as we reached the end of town.

  2. I stayed in the apartment upstairs, it was never quiet there, always sounded like furniture moving. Always felt like I was being watched a lot of tension in the air. I would sometimes run out of there and felt like I was being chased. Never stayed in there alone. The cats would be staring at things I couldn’t see.

  3. I live there now and it’s very scary. What ever in that apartment loves to mess with me all the time especially when i’m alone. I use to hear furniture moving ,but not anymore i hear every once and a while. I hear people talking and They call my name. Sometimes they’er yelling and sometimes it’s a whisper. I heard this woman once yelling out the name “Danny”. She yelled maybe 2 times. I hear people tell me to leave and get out. I always feel like somethings with me and following me. All this manly happens at night when its dark. I even saw someone playing with a dog.It was a tall man was playing with the dog and when i saw them the walked to the side of my bed. He just stood there. The dog stopped playing and just sat there confused when i saw it. I hear people knocking on the doors. At something is always in my room. If you look at the door in my room ist always looks like someone is standing there. My stuff will come up missing then the next day it will be right where I put it.

One of the store fronts housed an 1800’s funeral home. There was an ornate platform where the casket was set up for viewing. Lots of carved wood. In the basement was the embalming room. Heavy stone arches dividing the basement and the floor was dirt. There was an apartment upstairs. A two story apartment. One room on the third floor was scary. It was kept padlocked and often was found unlocked for no reason. The living room, kitchen, dining room and one bedroom were on the second floor. The couch was against the wall with stairs leading from the street behind it. Loud heavy steps could be heard coming closer. We got up to see if a roommate had come home. No one was ever there. Always wondered if something or someone was left behind in the dirt. Definitely haunted.
