Peabody Hotel

You are here Home  > Hotels and Inns >  Peabody Hotel

Built in 1986, the Peabody (famous for its marching ducks) was the second-tallest building in Orlando. There are claims that a number of people have committed suicide in the building over the years, and that their spirits can sometimes be seen roaming the hallways.

The Peabody building still stands, but was sold and rebranded to Hyatt in October of 2013. (The ducks aren’t staying.)

  1. I was walking in the smaller building on floor M I pointed my camera towards the stairs there was someone one there I put it in my camera and I put it back in the elevator and then he was gone.i lost this footage so sorry?

  2. Just had the weirdest dream staying here. In the dream my wife/girlfriend killed herself. I was so distraught that I also killed myself as well. As soon as I pulled the trigger, the scene repeated and it all happened over again. This repeated 2 or three times before I woke up. I’ve never had a dream like that before. Spooky stuff.

    • I almost feel embarrassed saying this… it’s 5:45 am and I’m awake because I just had a very similar experience with nightmares where I kept thinking I was awake but then realized I wasn’t. It happened over and over again. The dream itself was horrifying and about my family. I would never give a thought to such a modern place being haunted. I only found this site as I’m up researching not wanting to go back to sleep. I NEVER have nightmares and travel all the time for work without issue. I’m on the 16th floor of tower 1. Where were you?

  3. Before this hotel was rebranded my mother and I stayed here on vacation. This was at least 10-15 years ago. September 2018(now) she finally tells me about how she woke in the middle of the night to something choking her. This can be easily explained as you’d imagine. But Later that night around 3-330 I vomited in my sleep. I was less than 14 years old and I have never done this before. I can not remember the room I was In but I found out later this hotel has had a habit of people committing suicide in the hotel. I’m not claiming this is a paranormal experience but I’m also not dismissing it either. Scary stuff

    • My family and I stayed at the other Hyatt on Grand Cypress last week and experienced a lot over there of what you described. At first we thought it was the same hotel but even more strange that it’s the other one. I
emailed the Hotel directly but as expected no reply. We have 6 people in the group who witnessed one thing or another. Now that I’m looking, I’m seeing a lot of occurrences from different Hyatt’s around the country.

  4. i stayed here with my friends and we of course turned off all the lights, i woke up to the bathroom light on and a black shadowy figure standing there, sliding the bathroom door back and forth. i woke up my friend who saw it too as she screamed the light in the bathroom turned off and the door slid shut (room 736) the night before my friends parents woke up because they thought they heard us laughing extremely late at night but when they walked in to check on is we were all sleeping. when we woke up there was a handprint on the wall that connects our rooms. we didnt think much of it until my friend and i saw the figure.

  5. I had this crazy dream/vision (whatever you want to call it) I was half asleep and felt this awful pain in my head like it had got beaten in. And I had a very vivid visual of a rainy street and I was in the position of the person getting beaten. I had been hearing all sorts of crazy noises out in the hallway at night before this happened, but didn’t think anything of it. Ive always been on the fence about sprirts and ghosts until now.
