  1. This was the first place I ever lived in as a child, and it was owned by my Great Grandfather, M.A. Brown, who converted if from an ‘inn’ for travelers into a duplex. Perhaps the alleged death(s) were at the time it was an inn, – as there were none that have taken place there since.

    My grandfather was born in the Averill House

    My grandfather, Harry Oney Wellman, was born at Averill Stand, and was an Averill descendent. The family moved to a farm now known as Wellman Road in Wilmington. My grandfather moved to Woodbury, Vermont with his mother when he was 14. His brother, George Wellman and his wife and children lived on the Wellman Road Farm for their entire lives.The family farm is now a Bed & Breakfast. We understand that Sarah Averill, who was hanged as a witch at the Salem Trials is a direct descendent. The Averill Stand, to my knowledge is now a B&B, and the owners have researched the history of this property.
