  1. This Woodbury University is the former Villa Cabrini Academy, founded by Mother Cabrini.
It had a Convent, not a Monastery, a Kindergarten, Grade School and High School for Girls Only.
Villa Cabrini was there from the turn of the 1940’s until the 1970’s. Our family had a home near there for many years. I made my First Communion there in 1954.
High up on a hill in the Verdugo Mountains, above Villa Cabrini, once stood the Cabrini Chapel visible throughout most of the San Fernando Valley. The chapel is now at the parking lot of St Francis Xavier Church, Burbank.
Also on the grounds was the Villa Cabrini Church, which still stands. As it should.
Would not surprise me is that bell tower is still being rung by Mother Cabrini.
The grounds there are very historic.

The bells were most likely never rung by Mother Cabrini herself, she was way too busy attending to the children and her nuns who worked in her order as school teachers, nurses to the sick children in the preventorium and orphanage created before the elementary school, junior high and high school. 4. I currently attend Woodbury as a student and have lived in both of the residence halls, and if there is a spirit here they don’t have bad energy. Strange energy maybe, but not evil.

It was not a monastery, like others pointed out already. It was an all-girls catholic school. I currently live in what used to be their dormitories. Before it was a school in 1933, it was a ‘preventorium’, founded in 1905/1906 as a reaction to the tuberculosis epidemic (I can’t get clear information on whether it was *for* tuberculosis patients or just to keep kids from getting tuberculosis).

I haven’t heard any bells ring, nor heard of any bells ringing. There’s many ghost stories from students and faculty, just none involving bells that I’ve ever heard, sorry. Just living in the dorms though I sometimes see child-sized handprints on the walls (even once on the wall of the room my roommate and I shared, which we know we didn’t leave there and was too small for either of us to have made). There’s one smoke alarm that will get set off around the same time every year by absolutely nothing– I know this because it’s always during studio finals when I’m pulling all-nighters and it drives me insane.

The library that used to be a church honestly just feels comforting to be inside. I’ve been in there many times alone at night and I haven’t ever seen anything strange. I’d love to though.

  5. I was one of the night guards for almost two years at Woodbury. I would patrol the grounds alone; usually patrols are done in pairs. So most of the time, I had someone with me.

But, based on my coworkers’ experiences and my own. I would say 100% that there is something odd and mysterious about this place. This location has a lot of history. However, whatever is there it isn’t malicious, in my opinion.

Most nights were peaceful but if your there long enough trust me you will notice something.
