The hunting boots of the original owner, Lorenzo Hoard, were kept at the top of the stairs as decoration. Occasionally the workers would come in to work and would find the boots at the bottom of the stairs, exactly as they were at the top of the stairs. It was said by the previous owners that they thought he wanted them on the main floor, not hidden upstairs.

I have heard this same story from a worker there, about the boots from upstairs being down at the bar at opening time the next day

I used to work here and while and something was always lingering upstairs, there were things that were upstairs being found downstairs and it was always a little strange there first thing in the morning.
