Local legend says that one of the Walnut West Apartments is haunted and tenants tend to move out immediately. The ghost is said to be a little girl who was killed on the same spot when the land that now holds the apartment complex was a farm.

  1. I rented a two bedroom apartment from Walnut West in 1992 when my son was four years old. I never heard or new of that complex being haunted by a little girl. However, one night in the middle of the summer I was watching t.v. My husband was at work and my son was sleeping in his crib. The next thing I know was my son’s red kickball came gently rolling out of the hallway and into the living room. Finding out years later that Walnut West was haunted I believe now that that little girl might have been there and wanted to play with my son but he was sleeping and she couldn’t. My son recently told me that he remembers living there and always hearing a little girls voice talking to him in his room. I did go back a couple of years ago and drove thru the complex at 6:00 in the morning in the summer to take picture and just kept snapping at my camera. I dropped the film off to be developed and left it at Kinney’s Drug store for at least six months. I finally picked the developed pictures up and to my surprise there in one of the pictures that I took of the building where I used to live looks like a little girl on the side of that building standing by a small bush. I will find this picture and submit it to you at Haunted Places. Thank you for your time and I hope this information helps. I think this little girl just wants friends to play with and she is not a mean ghost. Just a little lost one who wants to have fun.

  2. I was a painter there for many years…. one evening I was there late, it was dark I was painting trim on a bedroom window..I suddenly felt something on the back of my neck. I can’t explain it but the hairs stood up on the back of my neck and I could feel something there. .instead of freaking out I slowly put my brush down and walked down the stairs and out the carport door.. I returned the next day without further incident..
it was later that I found out about a little girl that was killed or died there. .
