Thayer's Bed and Breakfast

You are here Home  > Hotels and Inns >  Thayer's Bed and Breakfast

This 1895 Old West Victorian hotel is a full house. It is the home of a ghostly little girl, a spirit bride, and two ghost cats. The owner’s husband is also said to reside here in spirit, as well as the place’s two original owners. Many other ghosts are said to live here as well, and reports say the owner is a psychic who gives readings by appointment.

My husband and I visited Thayers back in May, 2009. We were the only ones staying there. It was a beautiful property and Sharon Gammell, the proprietor, had taken a lot of care in renovating it. She was also an incredible cook and made us amazing gluten-free breakfasts. The door to our bedroom slammed twice–HARD–in the absence of any wind. No outside windows were open. It was baffling and quite unsettling. As noted above, Ms. Gammell put it on the market some years ago. Sadly, she died in 2012, I believe. She seemed like a lovely lady and claimed to be a psychic, although my reading with her wasn’t accurate at all. I’m glad that we got to stay there before it closed.

  2. We stayed at Thayer’s quite a few times and even got married there. I remember one time we stayed in a room that had a lot of purple furnishings. My wife was in the bathroom and I was sitting on the bed. There was a lamp on an end table that had several of those fake candle-flame bulbs in it. One of those bulbs wasn’t working. So, I said, “if there are any spirits present, make that candle-flame bulb come on.” It immediately lit up and worked for like 2 minutes and then went back out again. Freaked me out big time. Thayer’s Bed and Breakfast is closed, but they opened up a new restaurant on the main level and serve alcohol now. Going there brings back good memories for me.

  3. When I was a little boy about thirteen years old, maybe fourteen I used to pass through the little pond in the back with the little bridge. There were light posts and you could take the tops off and the tops were round. My buddy and I took the top off and threw it back and forth and we dropped it and it bounced. When we grabbed it again I looked up and looked up to the top floor in the window I seen a lady standing there in a wedding dress. I told my friend to look up and she was gone. Me and my friend Tony would always walk on the floor board beside the hotel where co-workers would sit and smoke. My friend Tony would always steal cigarette butts out of the ashtray. I am now twenty eight so this was thirteen or fourteen years ago.

  4. The Thayer as it is now called has been open for 2 years I live 2 blocks away and eat there often it has been closed due to COVID for a month. It’s still supposed to be haunted badly it’s now used as a hotel and restaurant I stayed there one night to confirm these suspicions and confirmed as I was alone in my hotel room ok my phone and it got insanely cold and something ruffled or touched my hair message me at KiKoKenshin@gmail.com if you would need more investigation once it’s open.
