The Old Sheldon Church was housed in a church built in the mid-1700s. The British burned it in 1779, during the Revolutionary War, but was rebuilt in 1826, only to be burned again in the Civil War. It is said to be haunted by an unknown Pilgrim woman in a brown dress. Her apparition has been seen near the grave of an infant.
