May-Stringer House

You are here Home  > Historical Buildings >  May-Stringer House

Now a “Heritage Museum,” the May-Stringer House dates back to the 1850s. The ghost of a girl named Jessie who died in the house at just 3 years of age is said to still be felt from time to time, rearranging toys and teacups to suit her whims. On rare occasions some people have said they heard whispers of “Mommy! Mommy!” coming from the attic…

    1. We have investigated the May Stringer Home many times and have some fantastic evidence of the apparition at the widow and Mr. Nasty telling (screaming) at us to get out.

    2. My aunt use to run the museum. My cousins were there with her one day and found a trap door and found small pieces of bone. There is a tea set there that gets moved around alot.

    3. My husband leaves for work every morning at 3:30 am and has to drive by the May Stringer house. He asked me a few months ago if something was getting ready go on at the house. I told him not that I knew of and asked why. He told me that he saw a woman on the porch with a long black dress on just standing there. He said she looked like she was dressed like living in the 1800s. He is the most skeptical, non-believing person I know so when he told me that I know he saw something there,

    4. Went there with ex wife in 2011. Took the ghost tour. The attic at night was creepy. Nothing out of the ordinary occured. But she took a picture of me sitting on the old bed in the attic with a digital camera. There was a large orb above my head. It was the biggest orb i had ever seen. Larger than my head , weird

    5. my great grandma used to work there everyday and I used to go on the weekends with her. I heared the crys and used to more her toys and they would move right back to where I moved it. every years since my grandma worked there for Christmas they used to put the little girl’s baby doll under the Christmas tree and the next day it would be back in the girl’s room in her cirb.I haven’t been there for years last time I was there I was like 8 years old and since then I believed in ghosted and I am 22 now and still remember it. I want to go back there.

    6. I’ve been by this house many times… I hear a lot of stories about this house as well but there’s been a question I’ve always asked myself… What is a ghost? If everyone that has ever died was a ghost then the whole world would be full of ghosts… Is it like the middle of hell and heaven? Are spirits that roam earth just ppl who have been given the decision to go to hell or heaven and don’t know that? If anyone can help me clear this up… Just let me know somehow btw I’m 14 years old. Thanks

      • Ghosts that roam the earth are usually are stuck because something tragic happened when they passed or they’re waiting for someone to find them one last reason is they don’t know how to cross over. I have helped many lost souls cross over one of my gifts that I was given and also the most gratifying thing I can do!

    7. This is a place that should be on every ghost hunters list! So much activity – all kinds of crazy stuff going on at the May-Stringer house!
