"Little Sister" Statue - Flora Kemp - Riverside Cemetery

You are here Home  > Cemeteries >  "Little Sister" Statue - Flora Kemp - Riverside Cemetery

The statue of Flora, engraved with “Little Sister,” is known among the locals as the Crying Bride. The statue is said to shed tears. So the story goes, on her wedding day, Flora tripped and fell down the Kell House stairs to her death. But some question this story: Other reports say Flora died of typhoid in 1910, a year after the Kell House was built. So why does Flora weep? She has apparently taken the secret to her grave.

  1. I have found the flora kemp staute and did an EMF sweep and EVP Nothing was found, but does not mean that her crys are not heard from time to time,my ivestgaation into her family history found that she in fact did fall down the stairs at the kemp house on her wedding day, cause of dead is broken neck from her fall down the stairs. you can find pictures of her on my facebook page under the name Wayne Dunn or Texas Ghost Rangers Paranormal Group, hope this help you and please use the pictures of her for your web sight!

  2. This also isnt true, flora died up north, of consumption or TB, she was not set to be married, they had her body moved back to riverside to buried in her family plot. As far as the statue crying…ive seen marks on the statue but they are stains that appear after it has rained or on a humid night.

  3. She was engaged to be married, but became ill and died before the wedding. She may have contracted the flu while on a trip to Europe. The story sbout her fallimg down the stairs is absolutely not true. She and my grandmother were first cousins.
