Griswold's Old School House

You are here Home  > Miscellaneous >  Griswold's Old School House

Although the building has been made into several shops, it once was Griswold’s Old School House. The disembodied voices of ghost children have been heard, and a white mist has been reported as well. Doors will fly open for no apparent reason, and many witnesses have described a feeling that they were being watched.

  1. I attended Cal Poly, Pomona University in the late 19tos. While living in the Dorms we heard stories about an apparition called ” The Miner”. This was supposed to be an old miner always accompanied by his Burro. The Miner was an old man, who looked disheveled and had a long beard. His Burro was carrying packs of things associated with mining in the mountains. The Miner would appear at random in the general area of Claremont, in the foothills. In 2012, I took my wife along on a job walk I had for the Claremont Water District. She waited inside our car in the parking lot . I was gone about 10 minutes.

When I got back she related the funniest thing she had seen In her words she said she saw a homeless looking man and his horse off the side of her vision, but when she looked again, they were gone.

I knew immediately that she had seen “The Miner”, and told her about those old ghost stories from the Dorm, back in 1975 – 76..

The funny part is that I had never before told her the stories about this Miner and his pack animal.

    Regards,

    Michael Acebo

  2. I try to be open to all ideas and have experienced some unexplained situations in the past. That said, I occasionally work in the old school house building on weekends. Today was rather different. I worked late and found myself to be the only person in a portion of the building. I had a “weird” feeling of being watched, but shook it off. As I’m walking down a corridor, off to my left I noticed a shadow of an adult male sitting. The shadow came off the reflection of glass door. I stopped, looked again and the shadow was gone. Okay, time to pack up and go. Got home and told the wife about the situation. I then notice the imprint of what seems to be four fingers on my right forearm. Did not hurt, but the imprint was present for a short time. Wife’s opinion is someone was trying to get my attention. They got it!
