Green Gables Hotel and Restaurant

Ghosts here include a woman who haunts the kitchen (especially the walk-in cooler). She is said to whisper “Turn off the lights” and move objects in the kitchen. Often seen on the second floor is the ghost of an African-American man who wears 1800s clothing. He is usually near the front stairway and is known to be unpleasant, often screaming at the owner’s dog to shut up. Reports say when the owners bought the place, they were unaware of the ghosts, and several times called the police to report folks trespassing in their building.

  1. i have been to green gables many times in the past when it was open. before the new owners took over. i never saw or felt anything. i think its a bunch of crap and just ment to bring attention to the gables its a shame for the place and the history of lewistown.

  2. I stayed at the Green Gables Inn in 2008 with my fiance. We stayed at the rooms across the way from the original Inn. During the night we both had experiences we didn’t share til the next morning. I saw women with long dresses move or dance across the room. My fiance had a woman curl up next to him. He thought it was me and realized it was not me. We also had things happen at the Inn while we dining there. Jukebox played on it’s own
Owners young daughter handed me jewels from someone she saw but I couldn’t see. She drew me a picture of this woman which I still have. Possibly someone from the underground railroad? This young daughter also had me join her at the fireplace in the dining room and interacted with someone I couldn’t see. It was an amazing paranormal experience. Parents knew I was experiencing something with their child and acknowledged it. I wasn’t freaked out but completely intrigued especially after what my fiance and I had experienced and discussed. Perfectly positive experiences. I am completely convinced the Inn is haunted in a positive manner.
