This building opened in 1926, but fell into disrepair by the mid 1970s. It was bought by the Church of Scientology in 1975 and is now part of their spiritual headquarters in Clearwater.

There have been a number of strange deaths in the building since it was taken over by the Church of Scientology, and some believe their spirits still haunt the building to this day.

    1. “Ghost hunters” say that old churches are often haunted. That may be true, but the Unitarian Universalist church in Tarpon Springs is still unusual. The church has a famous collection of landscape paintings by artist George Inness, Jr. According to legend, the paintings are protected by the ghost of a female docent. Noisy visitors have been told to hush and doors have been opened and closed by an unseen presence. Inness was a mystic. He died during the 1920s, but he continued to have his admirers, In 2019, he was accepted into the Florida Artists Hall of Fame.
