People who love ghost tales will love the University Inn in Gooding, Idaho. University Inn is the sole remaining structure of the failed Gooding College, built in 1917. The building was the men’s dormitory. The Gooding College suffered financial losses during the Great Depression that resulted in the school’s closure. The state of Idaho converted the dormitory into a treatment facility for people with tuberculosis. In 1976, the institution closed. It is now run as a local hotel.

Local paranormal groups have investigated the hotel and enough unexplainable occurrences have been reported to convince more than a few that the building is haunted by its former inhabitants.

Im staying at the hotel right now I am typing this from there computer. Yesterday my sister, our friends, and I were playing hide and clap up in the attic, well when we couldn’t find the last person we said “8th clap”. he clapped and we found him then like 2-3 seconds later we heard a jog but everyone was stood still. Then last night thought it would be fun to play it in the dark, we played and the samething happend. The ghost hunters were the their but they where down in the basement.

  2. I stayed here for a family reunion last summer. Each night around 3:00 am I would wake up to the sound of a child coughing coming from the basement. When I would go to investigate the cough would get louder and louder right until I opened the basement door and then it would totally stop. Creepiest place I’ve ever been!

I’m staying at the hotel now Oct. 15th. I woke up after a disturbing dream, and I couldn’t move till my man sat on the edge of the bed… Like a nurse would!
I have this tickle or something in my throat that is making me cough!!!
Now I’m getting flashes of things out of the corner of my eyes, & the mirrors!
I don’t like what I’m seeing!! I firmly believe that this place was used for more than just a collage and a TB hospital!!!

    • I went here to and also saw things flashing in the corners of my eyes, and some of my nieces and nephews went into the employee only halls in the basement the first night and saw creepy Halloween decorations including an electric bed frame and lots of dolls that lit up when you walked past them. The second night I went down there and there was a dry puddle of blood on the floor with about a meter in circumference. The attic was blocked off and I felt surrounded by things, but I never saw anything.

  4. Myself and a bunch of other people just stayed there for a college retreat. Awesome place, but I’m fairly certain several of us, including myself, experienced…something.

So, I was trying to fall asleep but having some issue, tossing and turning. At some point in the night I was fully awake and realized there was a thumping sound, what sounded like footsteps or something, coming from the floor above my room. At first, I discounted the noise. I thought it was someone wondering around or maybe some wind on the old house. I tried to go to sleep but couldn’t…something was off about it.

I look at my phone, it was about 5:30 in the morning. That early/late on a Saturday night in a house of exclusively college kids, nobody would be just walking around without stumbling, blasting music, or making other noises. I also remembered I was on the second floor, and the 3rd floor had been boarded off (since it was a section that wasn’t renovated).

The noises also sounded weird. The thumping only came only in sets of 3. Each time they would go off in a different direction, but would stop after the third, then start in the same spot a few seconds later. They were also not consistent, especially on the second thud. The first and third were almost always about heavy footstep volume, but the middle would change in volume/intensity. The starting point would also always change, every few spots sounded like they were above the neighboring room or across the hall, but would almost always come back to the first spot. I also noted that there was no creaking of wood that would be expected for someone making that heavy of a sound in an old, renovated house.

I’m not sure how long this went on for, but from my phone I knew it lasted till at least 6 am. Eventually I either passed out or they stopped. When I told the other people in the house about it, several of the others who were on the second floor said they heard it as well, even the ones who were completely passed out a few hours prior.

Maybe it could have been someone who decided to break into the 3rd floor and explore, but to me there was just too much weird coincidence to just pass this off as somebody who decided to go on a 5 am adventure by themselves.
