Smithfield Station

You are here Home  > Restaurants and Bars >  Smithfield Station

Smithfield Station is a restaurant frequented not only by the living. Witnesses say the apparition of a man can be seen sitting at the bar late at night when the place is closed. Some say he’s the spirit of a man who long ago left the bar and drowned in the river out back.

  1. It is crap the station has been apart of my life as long as I can remember and this never happened no one has ever died in the river that was tied to the station. Someone wsas probably roaming around in hotel and saw a staff member setting at bar in dark after a stressful night. Total BS

  2. I’ve lived in Smithfield most of my 50 years and have never heard this story. Also it was just built in 1986….depending on how old you are, that’s not exactly “long ago”. I highly doubt The Station is haunted but there are a few houses in town that are!

During our stay on an anniversary trip we had 2 experiences which were definitely paranormal. We witnessed on the second floor a chair sliding away from a sitting table as we walked by. It was amazing. Later that night after dining in their restaurant, we were walking outside along side the dock when a large ice box vigorously shook and startled my wife and I. We inspected the large metal box probably 4 foot square which had an electrical cord attached completely unplugged. All this added to an extraordinary visit.
