According to local legend, a Jesuit priest and a nun had an affair long ago. The nun became pregnant and asked the priest to run away with her, but he refused, and she hung herself on the 13th floor. When the priest found her body, he was so distressed that he jumped out the window. Although the upper floors have been vacant for years, reports say a light sometimes burns in the room, and visitors to the floor have reported seeing their apparitions walking hand in hand.

  1. I’d be in there some nights alone in the painting studio & got the WORSE vibes/chills. Although I never saw a ghost, I always felt like I was being watched. I do have friends that claim to have seen a priest in the lobby, then on the floor they took the elevator to, essentially moving floors faster than an elevator could move him. I want to believe it is haunted. Plus there was no security (in the 90’s,) any crackhead off Granville could squat in there.

  2. I attended that school, Mundelein, in the 70’s Never heard that story at all…but the “ballroom”on the 3rd floor of the Piper Mansion supposedly was haunted , with the light turning on and off during the middle of the night. My room faced that attic ballroom. Yes, it was often on, then off.

  3. Is this the old Mundelein Skyscraper? I went to School there in the ’70’s!!! Had art class in the upper floors!!!! That place was creepy!
