Built in the 1930s for children with tuberculosis, Seaside Sanatorium has also been a home for the elderly, a hospital, and a facility for the mentally impaired. Reports say that in the 1970s it became knwon that patients were being ill-treated by staff; the place closed in 1996 and remains abandoned. Reports say the plan is to demolish the building and replace it with condos. Paranormal researchers have found orbs that show up in photographs and electronic voice phenomena.
