Built in the 1930s for children with tuberculosis, Seaside Sanatorium has also been a home for the elderly, a hospital, and a facility for the mentally impaired. Reports say that in the 1970s it became knwon that patients were being ill-treated by staff; the place closed in 1996 and remains abandoned. Reports say the plan is to demolish the building and replace it with condos. Paranormal researchers have found orbs that show up in photographs and electronic voice phenomena.

    1. Seaside Center, like so many other large expensive to run facilities was closed due to the cost and nothing more. The smaller group home type residences have since taken it’s place. It’s not haunted, just an old building that we should revitalize rather than building new ones….

    2. can anyone tell me who i would contact?I am seeking permission to do a paranormal investigation here. thanks in advance!

      • It’s not likely to happen, it’s state owned property and it would be too much of a liability. A vagrant took residence there several years and was found dead after falling through two floors. Not a good place to explore unless you enjoy either a stay the crowbar hotel or you have a death wish.
