  1. This is very interesting I can’t say I beleive but I also can’t say I don’t beacause ghosts seem real but then there’s movies and made-up stories about ghosts so i’ll just say….aw what the heck I BELEIVE!!!!

  2. I hate to give in to this but, I was a police officer on the college campus when my partner and I had to catch a museum guard who had been scared off his post by Old Sam. It seems that the security guard was patrolling the grounds when he passed the Steamboat House and heard a noise inside. When he shone his light in the window, there was one of Old Sam’s chairs, moving about in the room.
Here goes; we decided to check it out a few nights later and bingo, there WAS furniture moving around but, in a different room this time. We watched until it stopped and kept an eye on the house for quite a while. No one came in or out while we were there. Seemed to happen most often in the Fall of the year. Since Sam’s wake was held there, I guess that it’s possible that something is going on in there.

  3. I live across the street from there and hear footsteps even outside my home. See shadows moving across the yard. I have even seen what looks like a lantern move through the steamboat house.

  4. Attended SHSU in the mid 80’s. One weekend some dorm buddies and i were running around the grounds of the Steamboat House, late at night. There is a small kitchen building a short distance from the house. When we approached this building the door flew open with enough force that I’m surprised it didn’t break into pieces. We ran like hell. We came back a few days later and noticed that there was metal bars padlocked directly inside the wooden door.
