This historic museum operated as a hospital during the civil war, so the rumours of haunting’s appear to have a leg to stand on; which can’t be said for some of the apparitions supposedly reported. Staff and visitors have reported the apparitions of various amputees in the main bedroom which served as a former ward. Others claim to see bloodstains which appear on certain days, have heard moans and screams and odd popping noises. Disembodied footsteps and knocking noises have also been reported throughout the establishment, which features on the local ghost tour.

I’ve never been inside the building, but one of the common past times in Florence is to get coffee at Rivertown Coffee Shop and then walk to UNA. You walk right past this building and I always got a VERY eerie feeling around this area!! Downtown Florence is haunted in numerous locations. It is a very old area and much of it is existing buildings from the Civil War era.

I’ve been here numerous times, and several times I have seen bloodstains on the second floor and disembodied footsteps up there when I am downstairs. I have also seen an apparition of a female ghost who I believe is one of the nurses who helped. I have also once seen the apparition of a confederate soldier with his head wrapped and missing two limbs, so I guess you could say he gave an arm and a limb to show himself to me.
Been here a bunch of times and its definitely haunted by a bunch of old Confederate ghosts. Stonewall, Lee, and Forrest all hang around this dump, waiting for a chance to relive the years where they fought against their nation to protect slavery. Some days, you can even smell the racism.
