Oliver House

You are here Home  > Historical Buildings >  Oliver House

This historic landmark building is notorious for the rumour of a presidential visit many years ago, and for the fact that the building and its grounds are steeped in history and mystery. The building now houses several brew pubs and a whole host of ghost stories. The building was supposedly built over an ancient burial ground, but the most notable ghost seen here is in the upstairs pool room. Visitors claim to have seen ‘The Captain’, the apparition of a man in a military uniform who appears in the hallways and adjacent rooms. Since the renovations begun, the paranormal activity has greatly increased.

  1. I know it haunted. About 10 years ago I was playing pool in the bar and after I took my shot I looked up and saw a man staring at me in what looked like a civil war uniform I thought it was odd and maybe the was a reenactment in the area so I didnt think anything of it so I took my next shot and he was gone. After the game of pool I went to get another beer and I asked the bartender if there was a civil war reenactment in town cause I saw a guy in a civil war uniform and thats when she explained to me what happened and told me about the captain. Of course I didnt believe her so she got her manager and he told me what I saw. I got goosbumps real fast and was a little freaked out. I even went up to the people that were sitting next to the man I sawand they looked at me like I was crazy. I wasnt even drunk yet so I know what I saw.

      • They don’t want rid of the friendly ghost sightings there Jayden and I doubt very much you are a ghost expert and can rid them away in the first place, there are tons of paranormal groups and most have not gone to school for anything having to do with the paranormal, there fore they just guess. The ghosts attracts a lot of curious customers.
