I was here with my aunt one night and we were looking around. She said my name and I looked at her and asked what. She pointed down and happened to be standing on his grave. At that moment we both took off running as fast as we could. But the entire time we were running it felt as if he was right beside us.

I am curious. This is my family. I have visited this cemetary my entire life and have never heard about a murder or a ghost. What is the mans first name? Thank you!

  3. I was a Dover Police Officer in 1994 and a Pope County Deputy friend of mine told me another deputy saw a female dressed in white sitting on the stone wall late at night. He said the deputy drove into the cemetery but couldn’t find her. We decided to check it out one night around 1am. We drove to the back of the cemetery and a bright orb appeared in front of a tombstone. I started to get out of the car to investigate but before I could get my foot out my friend hit the gas and turned that patrol car into an airplane.

  4. Went here with my girlfriend to check out the Hovis gravesite and local legend says that he was hung by a perfectly tied noose made out of barbed wire, my girlfriend said that on the old humpback bridge the noose was still there just two years ago.

  5. I was the caretaker there for a while, and I Have also investigated there. I have caught many voices on audio as well as on photo. Mr Hovis has yet to show himself to me. I’ve cleaned his and his Family’s grave markers. Here is a picture I took on a Full Spectrum camera.
