Millicent Library

Millicent Library is believed to be haunted by its namesake, the daughter of Huttleston Rogers, a well-known financial backer of historical buildings in Fairhaven. Rumor has it that Millicent was buried in the library’s foundation, and her apparition, say witnesses, walks in that very building, haloed by a blue light. She also has been spotted in the windows of the closed tower section. The ghost of a former janitor who died in the building is rumored to be here too, keeping Millicent company.

    1. This story is completly bogus. There are no records to support any of this. No one has reported seeing any apparitions or lights. This location is clean and has been historically.

    2. NOT bogus have been visiting the library for years. Its well know by everyone in this town. They have had frequent visit from ghost trackers and white witches trying to encourage the spirit to move on. So many stories from people who work there and well as those who visit.

      • This place is definitely haunted. I have had experiences here as well. I went downstairs to use the bathroom and saw a man mopping the floor. He seemed very focused on what he was doing and didn’t seem to notice me. When I was using the bathroom, someone knocked on the door really loud. I told them to wait. Then the lights went out while I wasin the bathroom. When I opened the door, no one else was there

    3. Hi, I went on a road trip to mt Gambier, meaning we drove through Millicent to get there. As we were driving along I was drawn to the small town with its old fashioned buildings. Although we didn’t have time to stop there, so we kept driving. As we were on the outskirt of the town on the left hand side (going towards mt Gambier) There was a little red and white stone house/building. It had an old looking boat out the front and the gardens looked unkept. My question is if anyone knows anything history or birth/deaths that relate to that house. As i had a sweeping feeling of nausea and fear when driving past it. Hence me wanting to find out more. Thanks 🙂

      • Hello Anon I would like to help you with your investigation as I once lived in that house yes it’s haunted same with many places in fact I am actually trying to go into haunted locations all over the world for some action and believe it or not that was an area were some Cherokee Indians were killed by British soldiers also in ambush 5 British troops and 2 Coloniest died in that area so yeah it’s haunted also I have reason to believe it may have a demon there to as I experienced scratches noises nausea as well and other things hope I can help have fun Anon oh and stay away from that house

    4. I did have experiences at this place. I was studying for a summer class at this library. I went downstairs to use the bathroom. It felt cool and creepy. I noticed a man mopping the floor. He was very focused on what he was doing and didn’t seem to notice that I was there. I went into the bathroom and turned on the light. As I was using the bathroom, someone knocked on the door really loud and obnoxiously. I yelled “wait a minute!” Then the lights went out. I was more annoyed than scared because the janitor looked solid like a real person. When I opened the door, there was nobody there, and there was no evidence of the janitor being there. I didn’t hear any noise. I thought it was really weird that he disappeared so fast and I didn’t hear him leave or hear the noise of him pushing the bucket
