Two ghosts are said to haunt Manresa Castle. The first is a young woman named Kate who is said to have leapt to her death from her room (306) in despair after her lover either failed to show up, or was killed. The other is the ghost of a monk that legend claims hanged himself in the tower above room 302. So if you are looking for a haunted night’s stay, pick one of those two rooms.

    1. Stayed 1 night about 10 years ago…uneventful night but after returning home the next night my alarm went off at exactly midnight even though it was set for morning, then several times a week our TV would turn on on its own. This continued for several weeks until I cast out demons in Jesus name and the problems never came back.

    2. Spent a night below the room the monk hung himself. Sounded like the furniture kept moving til 4 am, the room kept getting too hot, and had a really creepy experience trying to sleep, thought I saw a guy looking like he was from the 1920’s, smiling. Didn’t find out about the haunted history until the next morning reading a book they sell. Breakfast is great though, and it was great otherwise. Just missing sleep though, really really strange experience!

    3. My wife and I stayed at the Manresa Hotel with another couple two months ago and none of us had any encounters. This hotel was the subject of season 5 episode 11 of the ‘Paranormal Witness’ TV show called ‘The Hotel’. The name of the hotel was changed in the show and many of the shots were altered but many others were the actual halls and dining room of the Manresa.

    4. Me and my family stayed on the 3rd floor at the Manresa Hotel (below where the monk hung himself). All through the night we heard scraping noises coming from up above us, finally it stopped around 5am. The next night we heard crying from who, I don’t know. We went down the hall ways and stopped at each door to listen but everyone was sleeping. The sound went on for 3 hours straight. Other than those creepy experiences it was a great place!

    5. Why doesn’t the ghost take a ferry ride over to Whidbey Island. The light house is REALLY neat. Manresa Castle at least has baseboards that work pretty good. We lived in a rental that had really crappy baseboards that were expensive and often broke down. I have Autism and the hotel staff were right away understanding as Dad told them. I paid for my room and they put us across the hall from each other even though the original was kitty corner as they couldn’t do it any closer.

Not sure how it happened but somehow I was able to direct call our room when I need things in the middle of the night without having to yell across the hall and saved us a lot of grief. Dad tried to call me once but it never went thru. But I did it multiple times. I am unsure how it was able to be worked out.

Kimberly is VERY nice and spent extra time explaining things with me and we caused her to decided to see the mansion in Portland as she was heading down there anyways next week as we live near Stayton Oregon.

I got to drive the elevator as I am really interested in machines like that. A few times for fun we did a lights off ride after I switched the light off.

    6. We recently stayed in 302, quite apparent with the SLS camera, we caught the “Hanging Monk”…right down to the broken neck bone, plus many more SLS video from 306!
