LJ Williams Community Theater

You are here Home  > Theaters >  LJ Williams Community Theater

This 1930’s theatre is usually used for school productions, and is reportedly haunted by actors and theatre patrons who loved the building so much that they refused to leave. Visitors have seen a pair of ghostly children in various parts of the building and a teenage girl who hanged herself after not getting the role she wanted in a theatrical production. Legend has it that her dressing room is kept locked during plays, as her spirit often tends to get violent. The floor on which the dressing room is located is also noticeable colder than other floors.

  1. I’ve lived in Visalia all my life and have been in the lj many times for all sorts of performances. I’ve explored the floor of the violent spirit and as soon as you approach the floor there is an unwanted vibe. You feel the hairs stand up on your back, and yes the door is locked and her hall is dark, no light.

  2. I went there for a dance recital last year. My friend Carissa’s phone went missing and when we went looking for it( her mom was our ride and we needed to call her) when we reached this “locked door” the phone was right there. It scared the crap out of all of us.

  3. I do belive that lj is haunted, but their is no record of a girl hanging herself in the theater. I have done extensive research on old news articles and asked a few locals. And everytime ive preformed there all the dressing rooms are unlocked unless we aren’t using them, or arent supposed to be in the dressing room areas. Its usually dark when your not supposed to be there. So unless theres a secret dressing room i dont know about then that claim is completely false.

  4. i experienced scary things such as a white figure outside of the theater it disappeared in the blink of an eye. as i was on stage something kept drawing my eyes to the right of the balcony as i saw that white figure.

  5. I was there for a dance show and I was in one of the upstairs dressing rooms right next to the locked room. The sink in the room kept randomly turning on after we would turn it off and I took a picture with my friends and there was an orb in it

  6. I took a couple pics late one night and looks like you could see something in the pictures let me know if you see the same thing could be my imagination

  7. Not only did I perform here every year, multiple times a year from 8-18, I’ve also attended many performances/programs here. With dance, we spent quite a bit of time there with very few people, as well as when I was in band with Redwood, we sometimes would run through stuff when it was close to performance. I can recall sitting many times with just a couple of friends on the balcony, completely to ourselves. So many memories in the dressing rooms and roaming the halls with not many people present. That being said, I never experienced a single unexplainable moment or any “feelings”. I usually get feelings , heaviness, sadness, angry, etc. in places and am open to that type of stuff. Not saying other people haven’t. It just shocks me to see so many people have had experiences there, when I spent so much time there and nothing ever presented itself.
