Julep’s

You are here Home  > Restaurants and Bars >  Julep’s

Julep’s is a restaurant now, but in 1826 it was the weapon shop where Daniel Denoon, an apprentice gunsmith, was shot to death by shop owner James McNaught. Denoon’s ghost is said to have inhabited the restaurant ever since 2003, when the new owners began a remodeling project that turned the stairs Denoon fell down when he died into a storage closet. Thumps and noises have come from the closet ever since.

  1. My wife and I ate at this restaurant when we were visiting Richmond. I asked the waitstaff about the supposed noises that apparently come the new closet/storage. One of the waiters told me that he has heard banging and noises that come from there, but no one is in there when he goes to check it out.He also said that he gets a very cold chill feeling when he goes to that storage room. He never sees anything, but hears noises all of the time…just from that room. Out of curiosity, I asked to see the room, but he declined as no one is allowed there other than employees. I understood, but it didn’t hurt to ask. We stayed for about an hour, ate and then took pictures, then left. Oh yeah, the food was pretty good. If you’re ever in Richmond,go check it out.
