This tavern building was a French outpost in the 1740s and a war headquarters in the 1750s. It became a tavern in the 1760s, and was also used as a courtroom. Several people were hanged here, and it is said that their spirits walk restlessly throughout the place. Witnesses have reported apparitions, cold spots, strange lights, and odd things that show up in photographic images.

  1. My husband & I stayed here several years ago. While we were dining in the dining room on the lower level, my husband claims that someone or something grabbed his leg under the table. No one was around us at the time & it wasn’t me. I was seated across from him.

  2. I stayed there over night on 2 different occasions. The one night we stayed my husband fell asleep as I lay there listening and watching for something crazy to be seen or heard, all of a sudden I hear like pots and pans being banged around. I just assumed it was the workers were cleaning up at the end of the evening, but to my surprise when we had our breakfast there in the morning the waitress told me that no one would have been in there at that time.

  3. rocking chair started rocking without any visible means and there was a knock on the door and when i opened there was no one there.
