Inn At Merridun

You are here Home  > Hotels and Inns >  Inn At Merridun

The Inn at Merridun is haunted by friendly ghosts, former residents T.C. and Fannie Duncan, who leave pennies as housewarming gifts. Their rose-scented perfume and cigar smoke can be detected when the ghosts are around. Another haunt in residence is Mary Anne Wallace, sister of a former owner, whose apparition has been seen by many. A white ghost dog lives here too. Some guests have felt a touch while sleeping or have awoken to lengthy piano or harpsichord serenades. There is no piano or harpsichord on the premises.

  1. not haunted. i have stayed here many times. i know the inn keeper personally, in the early days, Jim and Peggy denied there was any haunting activity at all. i certainly never experienced anything. the stories of hauntings didn’t develop until people stopped coming to stay at the tattered and worn down old house.

  2. I helped host a dinner program for a few Doctors in Union sometime around 2010. I think there were only 7 or 8 total in attendance. After dinner, when all the doctors had left and we were packing up to leave, I started walking from the front parlor toward the dining room to get to the kitchen on the other side. As I approached the dining room I suddenly heard what sounded like a large dinner party with silverware and crystal clinking and clattering with lots of conversation. As soon as I entered the room there was no sound at all. I went into the kitchen to tell the lady at the inn, I don’t remember her name, and she did not hear anything. I thought it was really cool but I made sure I wasn’t the last person to leave!
