The land here was originally that of the Miwoks; however, by 1907, the land belonged to the U.S. military seeing as the grounds were a perfect point to thwart a surprise attack. Now a hostel for visitors, some of the spots here are said to be pure evil. One man reported to ghostvillage.com his account of being in the presence of one of the possibly many vicious entities in this area. As he described, he felt incredible chest pain, severe dizziness, weakness, and confusion. Other visitors have described the feeling of not being alone, seeing strange figures, and hearing odd voices.

My 11 year old had never had a “ghost experience” before. We were housed in the big room on the second floor of the hostel. She awoke to go to the bathroom, and something spooked her in there so she came back to bed in the big room. I awoke to her screaming “Mama!” I went to her and she was petrified. She claimed that a “nurse named Mary” was following her and stroking the other sleeping lodger’s heads. We sat downstairs for hours until she calmed down. We departed 2 days early.
years ago, I was chaperoning for my daughter’s 5th grade class. we stayed at the facilities at Marin Headlands. it was daytime and a guide was showing a group of us around outside. there is a baby blue whale skeleton outside. shortly after I respectfully touched the vertebrae of the baby blue whale skeleton, one of the girls said she wasn’t feeling well and I volunteered to take her to the infirmary (a small building nearby). we were the only ones in the small (2 room) building. She laid down on one of the beds and I sat on the other. out of no where I heard the most beautiful whale song. I stood up and looked out the window, expecting to see everyone looking out to the ocean where maybe there was a whale (I know that isn’t logical). anyway, everyone else was just walking around-clearly not hearing anything unusual. I walked around the room, poked my head out to the other room. no one was there. The girl heard the whale song, too. By that time I was starting to be a bit freaked out. When she asked me what it was, I lied and told her maybe someone was listening to some whale sounds Nextdoor,…except there wasn’t a nextdoor. I pinched myself and touched the wall to make sure I wasn’t dreaming. I clearly was not. finally it went silent. I later, and hesitantly, told one of the staff there and asked him what may have explained that. he then told me that there have been supernatural events on the site. I swear I’m not crazy. It was the weirdest thing ever. but, it was not an “evil” or bad spirit. I believe now that it was a gift from the baby blue whale that I had touched.
