Generals' Quarters Inn

You are here Home  > Hotels and Inns >  Generals' Quarters Inn

This historic inn is haunted according to guests staying on the second floor. A variety of paranormal activity has been reported, including ghostly voices, doors opening and closing of their own accord and lights going out for no apparent reason. Much of this activity has been attributed to a drunken servant who died after falling down a flight of stairs, and who has been heard climbing them in the early hours of the morning.

  1. I stayed at The General’s Quarters a few years ago and slept in one of the 2nd floor bedrooms. Before retiring, I plugged in my cell phone and placed it on the mantel over the fire place. I own a Samsung phone which requires you to press a button on the side to turn it off. A series of choices appears: Power Off, Restart, Emergency Mode. In other words, it takes more than 1 action to turn off the phone.

When I awoke the next morning, my phone was still plugged in but was off. I turned it on and it was fully-charged.

I suspect that the servant paused on his way up the stairs, which were just outside my room, to check out the technology.

  2. Great stories from Shiloh and many others , we are fixing to visit several locations including Shiloh and if any one has and tips or photos they can email me it would be great, I’m a war buff not a ghost hunter but would enjoy the opportunity to see I have lost family in several wars and had the opportunity to walk the beaches of Normandy where my dad came up on DDay , if anyone is interested I’m sure I have photos or the war torn beaches in Normandy

  3. My experience was on the 1st floor in the room right across from the breakfast area. It was the 2nd time we stayed in that same room. Nothing happened the first time but the next time was WAY different. There are storage doors above the head of the bed close to the ceiling. In my very realistic dream, several entities came out and started beating the hell out of me while I lay in the bed. I woke my husband up screaming and refuse to stay in the hotel again. It’s been 2 years and I vividly remember that dream/nightmare.

    • Hey Terry, just thought I’d let you know that I think I’m staying in that same room tonight. There are storage doors above the bed. Currently the Inn is under new ownership and only two rooms are available to reserve, that one and one upstairs right off the landing. I’m the only one staying there tonight and we’ll see what happens
