General Morgan Inn

This historic hotel is said to be haunted by a ghost named Green Room Grace. Grace was a waitress at the hotel long ago, and she is said to be playful and fun. She loves spoons, and has been known to snatch them from The Green Room, the hotel’s restaurant, for the past 75 years. Although the spoons regularly disappear, no one has ever figured out where they have gone.

  1. While staying in one of your larger rooms years ago my husband and my brother-in-law went down to get something from the car. I went into the bathroom and closed the door. As soon as I turned from the door the handle began to move rapidly as if someone wanted in. Of course, I assumed it was my husband who dearly loves to scare me. I said, “Ha, Ha, very funny!” I tried to ignore it, but it continued, and began to get more insistent. I decided to get my husband back by slinging the door open. The handle kept moving. I grabbed the door knob and swung the door open very quickly. There was no one there. There was no way anyone could have hidden or left the room in that split second. I was shaken, but I couldn’t wait to tell him all about it. We have stayed here several times since with no other incidents. Maybe we’ll have another story after tonight!

    • Hey Andra, My son and I are planning a visit to the General Morgan for several days, including Halloween night. Just wanted to hear if you have an update from your latest stay there.

  2. Tonight is our first of three nights at the General Morgan Inn, and though we have not seen Green Room Grace, we have certainly heard LOTS of noises and felt vibrations – like a huge thunder storm shaking the building, but no storm is happening. Lovely room, we love the character of the building and all the architecture details. Perhaps Grace does exist, but my God is a greater spirit and He is with us.

There is also the lady who worked there and was gunned down by her husband, she was shot in the dining room, she ran through the kitchen and as she reached the door to the hallway she collapsed and died. My team Paranormal Technology Investigations PTITN.COM investigated the Inn around 2011, After laying some loose batteries on a table with a recorder near them it sounded like someone was rolling them into each other, you could hear them hit. Also behind the Inn at the Dickson Williams mansion, in one picture of the porch we got a green ball of light on the porch near swing looking at us, after zooming it in, the picture looks like General Morgan, We have the picture in out office located in Jonesborough TN.
