Fairchild Oak Tree

You are here Home  > Miscellaneous >  Fairchild Oak Tree

Local folklore has it that this oak tree, over 400 years old, was the site of two deaths. One was Norman Harwood, who purchased the property around 1900, and is said to have killed himself under the tree. The second was James Ormond II, who owned a plantation here. Ormond’s body also was found under the tree, although it is unclear whether it was a murder or a suicide. Nowadays, folks say the apparition of a man walks in the vicinity of the tree and leaves onlookers feeling intense sorrow.

my grandmother lived by the tree in the house that was torn down. she lost a half brother on the property in a tractor accident. I always feel a very sacred presence there.

  2. I drive down those road for pleasure and for…maybe, possibly, some high speed stuff. But always around this area (albeit, a little further north from this location) I would occasionally have rocks thrown at my vehicle. It sounds like they either land on my roof or the side windows, but I know for a fact that i’m not running over anything or have any vegetation near me. I also get the feeling that I’m being watched around that stretch of road. Not sure if this is related or my own personal paranoia, but something definitely is up there.

I have always been sensitive to the spirit world. I grew up near this location and have always ended up with an erection every time I was near the tree. There is definitely something going on!
