Coquina Beach

You are here Home  > Miscellaneous >  Coquina Beach

On the far southern end of Coquina Beach, just before the bridge, there used to be a hotel that is now just a picnic area. Supposedly a “male figure” in black clothing walks back and forth between the picnic area and the beach, even during daylight.

    1. Ok back in 1995 I was pregnant with my youngest daughter and during that time I loved walking the beach so one night her father and I went out there it was around midnight or a little after and I was sitting at the top of the slide at the plat area there and her father really wasnt paying attention and we were talking and as I looked up towards the water there was this solid black figure come from the water and walked to the tables that was there and I tried to follow it but it just vanished and I have no clue as to where it went ..That was when I told my husband at that time what happened and it scared him to the point he was ready to go but I wasn’t I wanted to figure out what it was and where it went but of course we ended up leaving and i never got to go back out there to investigate. I know am with a Paranormal group that investigates all kinds of places and we totally enjoy it and I’d really love to come back out to investigate the area where I seen that figure come from and also to check for other spirits out there !!

      • Robin, I read your experience and am really interested in getting more information. I am an amateur Ghost hunter with a bunch of paranormal gear. You had mentioned that you were with a paranormal group. I was curious if they were local to Bradenton and if I could possibly link/hook up with them for an investigation?

    2. When I was dating my now wife we would go watch the sun set then walk the beach at night. One night near the bathroom area we saw a light floating above the water. It was hard to figure out how far or how high it was. I would guess it to be about three feet above the breaking waves because you could see the light reflecting on them. The gulf was moderately rough that night and the light was not moving up and down with the waves. I know the area and know that it wasn’t a channel marker or swim buoy. After seeing this we decided to leave. While walking past the bathrooms the light inside suddenly came on. The old bath houses were open air with about six foot tall walls and a one foot gap on the bottom, similar to a bathroom stall. I could see what appeared to be the top of a man’s head in the bathroom but it was just a black silhouette. Underneath the wall however I saw no feet or indication that anyone was in there. We saw no other cars or people were at the beach at that time. I have also spoken to a Bradenton Beach Police Officer about this and he told me that he has heard similar stories and had some strange encounters as well.

    3. I went to that area one day a few years ago with my children to explorer the “haunted” area and I cannot believe what we experienced. I was very sceptical so I went in there all brave and fearless but after the sunset all of a sudden the bushes started shaking (it sounded like rain but it wasn’t raining) We thought maybe it was an animal and my boyfriend was brave enough to walk closer towards to bushes but he said he felt a strange presence and as he went closer all the bushes started shaking like crazy. We all ran out screaming lol. The crazy part is we got it on cellphone video but the audio and visual was all full of static (I’ve never seen that happen on a cell video). Most terrifying ghostly exercise of my life but I kinda want to go there again some night. Lol

I think I have commented on this before. Not sure if it was this website or a different one. I have seen this figure at this location. When I was little my mother took me to this area. We were at one of the picnic areas and I looked over and saw a man in all black walk across the Picinic area past me. He saw me stopped, turned and looked over at me a smiled. His face was nothing but skin and bones and he had no eyes. It was the scariest thing ever. It scared me but fascinated me more because I found it unsual that a man would be wearing all black on the beach. I still remember this to this day. The man just walked across the picnic area and disappeared.

    5. We were at the moose yesterday and I was snapping some pics of kids on the beach. I got this image on my iPhone.
I showed it to my husband and he looked around there was no one there that resembled this.
If you look closely, you can see the young man taking one of the garbage cans behind this figure.
