At Colby-Sawyer College’s Colby Dorm, footsteps and rattling doorknobs have been heard in the night, and gusts of wind seem to come from nowhere. And at the Colgate Building, the apparition of a dark man in a hat has been seen leaning over a railing or walking around the tower until he suddenly vanishes.

  1. I lived in Best Dorm the season of 1980-81. While I lay awake trying to fall asleep one night, a glass ashtray of sort burst in to two pieces, but never fell off my bedside table. Scared to death, I did not move until the following morning. And there it was the next morning. Two pieces, perfectly broken in half on my nightstand. I lived in a single so I don’t have a witness. But why would I make this up? I know there are ghosts on that campus. I didn’t live in fear, somehow I felt they were really not going to hurt anyone. I did feel their presence on occasion.
