Black Butte Saloon

You are here Home  > Restaurants and Bars >  Black Butte Saloon

The Black Butte Saloon dates back to 1917, when it was founded by bordello madam Georgia Clark. The place is now rumoured to be haunted by a man who died after being pushed down the staircase, along with a prostitute who was beaten to death in a closet in Room 6 and a ghostly man with a beard whose face materialised in a pool of spilt hair dye in Room 15.

  1. I’ve been to the Black Butte many times back in the 1990s…The Owner at the time Dave, never once mentioned that it was haunted…I was friends with his daughter and bartender Lori..she lived upstairs and never once mentioned this either…I’ve also stayed overnight there a few times…never heard or saw a thing

      • My grandfather Erminio DeBon was what I have found was half owner with Ms Clark. The Black Butte saloon was either originally built of brick or was after a fire by my grandfather. It never burned again to my knowledge. He was killed in a hotel in Redding California in 1962. I had known little if anything until after parents deaths in 2010. Many pass memories and oddities fell into place like a puzzle. Missing will, money, my father’s paranoia of fire…my house fire .

        • My father and our family was very close to your grandfather. He use to stay with us when he came to Weed. We visited them in Eureka. My father owned the Black Butte for many years. Michele Pillon

  2. I lived above the black butte in the early 80’s. There was some unusual happenings going on there. Haunted yes. Scary haunted not so much.
