Bastille

You are here Home  > Restaurants and Bars >  Bastille

The Bastille, circa 1897, was a prison until 1964 when the old ceiling caved in. More recently it contained restaurants and night clubs, and, according to rumor, a few haunts. At restaurant kitchens, pots and pans would move on their own, and employees often described a heavy presence or a feeling that they were being watched. The building is now just rented out as office space.

Several friends and I were given a tour in the late 1990s while attending the Ren Faire.
One felt the lady on the stairs.
On the second floor, I could feel a guy concentrating on carving his name on the wall.
In the exclusive jail cell dining area, I could feel the angry guy who hung himself nearby.

There was also a little boy connected to a buffet near the front door.
