1900 Building

You are here Home  > Historical Buildings >  1900 Building

This building was constructed in 1924 and was originally the “Melbourne Hotel.” Later it was a bank, and then stores and office space. It is now referred to as the “1900 Building”.

There is a story attached to the building that centers around a girl named Amelia. She lived and died at the hotel, and some say she still walks the hallways in search of her lost love. Others sense the presence of a seafaring captain.

  2. when Harry and Wendy Brandon owned and renovated the building in the late 80’s or early 1990’s I did alot of tile repairs with the old red tiles throughout the building …I never “saw” anything but knowing that my helper and i were the only ones in that place around 9 -10 pm fixing tile to be walked on the next day …we heard walking on the second floor corridor and a door open and close !! freaked me out bad !…nothing ever showed itself but I hated being there at night !

  3. My friend was once here late because her mom had to finish up some work. My friend and her mom were the only people there. My friend decided to walk away and go to the rest room on the way there she says she saw a door close very rough, so she checked to go see if anyone had been there, but there was no one there. She was extreme scared and ran right back to her mom. I don’t know if i believe her.. And her mom moved jobs so i guess we will really never know.

  4. I am interested in investigating this building. I had tutoring in this building from 88-92. And had many experiences . Who do I contact to make this happen? Sarah karp
