The Pines Cemetery

You are here Home  > Cemeteries >  The Pines Cemetery

The Pines is the old cemetery from Tewksbury State Hospital. There are numbered markers here for over 10,000 individuals who died at the hospital. It is rumored that many bodies were exhumed and taken to Boston for medical students to train on.

The cemetery is located in the woods and is fairly accessible. Screams can be heard in the woods surrounding the graves, apparitions of people seen between the trees. A very good place to go hunting for EVP.

  1. I lived in Tewksbury for many years. About a mile from these woods. The paupers Graves are marked with a circle and cross. No names or anything else.
It was a state hospital where there are many underground tunnels.
Annie Sullivan’s nurse c was there, with her brother, who I believe died of tb.
They talk of play with the dead bodies in the hall.

There were many cages, straight jackets. Ect. Feeding through sliding doors, showers by garden hoses.

I have researched this. You should too!

  2. This place is very haunted. I got an evp that said help me!!. I felt sick after being at that cemetery for only a few minutes. I didnt get any pictures but I did see a manifestation of something. I dont know if it was human or not. I was investigating at 130 am. One of the scariest investigations I have ever done.

  3. As soon as my friend and I pulled up to the trail, we both got a bit of a headache. We explored the area for a while and heard a few whistles and felt like someone else was there but didn’t see anyone around. We got chills and an uneasy feeling but kept exploring. As we were walking on the main trail back to our car, we heard another whistle and then a strange sort of hollow sound almost like someone singing with a very deep voice. It was very unsettling.

  4. Doesn’t matter  |

Do NOT attempt to touch or go near these graves. I broke out in a horrible rash that definitely wasn’t poison ivy or anything like I have seen before. I have scars all over my arms from the blisters I got. I was with my kids and neither one of them got what I did and thank god they didn’t. I touched one of the crossed that seemed to be leaning side ways. I got very sick after leaving and have had very very horrible luck since. Something tells me there’s a lot of troubled souls that aren’t happy that they were left behind with just a number. Leave them be.

  5. I saw a black cloaked figure around sunset walking along the side of the cemetery trail. Stopped and talked to a State Hospital Cop and he told me “you wouldn’t believe the stuff we see patrolling this campus late at night”..
