The Old Spaghetti Factory

You are here Home  > Historical Buildings >  The Old Spaghetti Factory

Reports (and an emblem on the building’s front) say that this strucure housed a high school in the early 1900s, and employees say they have heard the ghostly sounds of children playing in the basement and in the restrooms. Dishes also have been known to fall on the floor for no apparent reason.

    1. Hi! This building used to be a grammar school from 1909 to 1961 or 1962. It served to 8th grade. There are newspaper clipping framed inside and old class pictures on the walls. The dining rooms are all classrooms and the trolley room was the auditorium. It’s a neat building.

    2. On 12/31/17 we dined and went downstairs separately to use the bathroom. BF went first and on his way back up the stairs he saw the flash of a young child’s feet/legs at the top of the stairs and then it was gone. Later, as I descended the stairs I felt an arctic freeze starting at my legs moving up my body until 100% ice goosebumps to the top of my head. I Peed quickly and felt sick to my stomach and got out of there fast! I was so cold that my teeth started to chatter. It took a total of 5 minutes for warmth come back flushing my body at the dining table. No doubt spirits lurk.

    3. This was the school I attended when we moved to Duarte. Went to 2nd and 3rd grade. Was not haunted then, and is not haunted now.

      • I was alone in the women’s bathroom and I looked up and there was a young woman, probably about 10 peering over the stall, I saw it out of the corner of my eye, when I looked up she was gone but my body went cold and I had a terribly ill feeling as soon as I got into that building so this scared me. I hurried up my family and left. I’ve experienced a lot of ghosts before but this was the scariest and realist experience I’ve had.

    4. Ok, so this is really creepy. I stumbled on this site today and found this entry for OSF. This is one of my FAVORITE restaurants for a few different reasons, one being that I’m a pasta lover but two is because my grandma who I am very close to always brought all of us grandkids here all the time. We still go here together till this day. So here’s where it gets weird. My grandma would always like to take us to the Hollywood location, which was also in an old building and so cool inside but unfortunately they closed that location many years ago and so we started coming to the Duarte location. The reason this entry freaks me out is because of the video in the bathroom. When I clicked the link and saw the video and it’s title, I knew I wasn’t crazy. You see, as the oldest of all the grandkids I was usually able to go to the restroom by myself. I remember this so clearly that every time I went to the restroom in that restaurant I would get the creepiest, most scared feeling. I just wanted to hurry up and get back upstairs (the restrooms are downstairs). On one occasion, I could’ve sworn I saw a glimpse of something in the mirror while washing my hands. The general dining area is not as creepy. But the restroom area and the bar area just always gave me a bad and uneasy feeling.

    5. We had lunch there today, as I was going downstairs to the restroom..I started feeling creepy. I opened the restroom door and felt uneasy..I ran upstairs and told my kids. I think this place is haunted. I can feel a presence. My husband thinks I’m nuts. As soon as we go home I started doing my research. Seems like many other people have felt the same way I did. I do admire them for actually using the restroom..I was scared to even walk inside.

    6. I came here once while doing repairs on the front doors of the building. As you walk in and look to your left you see the stairs that lead down to the restroom. I didn’t see anything paranormal, but.. for some reason something lured me to the feet of the steps. I didn’t go down as I had an un easy feeling. I just remember I kept looking towards the stairs as if I was going to see something scary.

    7. Omg yes this place is truly haunted everytime we have dinner here I feel uncomfortable it’s like a weary feeling like I’m being watched or something I had the nerve to ask the employees if they have had experiences and yes they say that most haunted room is the principle office and there break room which happens to be the old detention room which is down stairs where restrooms are located as well. It has been said that some kids died there due to running down the stairs where was said that were never up to code. Yeah its haunted.

    8. I used to be a busboy here in 2003 working on weekend nights as a high school student from the nearby Duarte High School. After the restaurant was closed, we had to put the chairs on top of the tables so the cleaning crew could mop the floors. On a few occasions, a chair in a different room would fall off the table and would completely freak me out. I could hear the loud thump from the impact of the chair hitting the floor and when I would go to investigate, the chair would be on the floor. I would also be in a certain dining room cleaning by myself and I would always feel as if someone was staring at me and I would see someone or some entity in the corner of my eye, but when I would look, nothing or no one was there. Happened on many occasions.
