The Inn At Jim Thorpe

You are here Home  > Hotels and Inns >  The Inn At Jim Thorpe

The inn, originally built in 1833, is said to be haunted. Guests have reported seeing orbs and shadows in their photographs, and even in their beds. TVs operate by themselves, objects move, and in some instances, guests have awakened to find the chairs in their room have been turned upside-down while they slept. It should be noted that several famous people have spent nights here, including Gen. Ulysses S. Grant, President William H. Taft, Buffalo Bill, Thomas Edison and John D. Rockefeller.

  1. We stayed in one of the rooms that are supposedly haunted here for the weekend last summer. I’m not sure if we just got psyched out by all the stories or if there was actually something in the room but it was not easy to sleep that weekend! Definately felt some weird energies lurking around 🙂 Jim Thorpe is awesome, highly recommend it!!!

  2. We decided to do a quick getaway weekend for our anniversary and heard the town of Jim Thorpe was adorable so we chose it. We picked the Inn because of its good reviews online and really had only heard in passing that it may be haunted. We completely forgot about it, checked in and went about our stay. The first night we were there, though, we turned on our portable sound machine thingy (it makes white noise so we can sleep) but sometime in the middle of the night it switched back and forth between our selected white noise and a brook w/ crickets. It kept doing it over and over, the changes woke us up. My fiance changed it back but literally in his hands the buttons switched back a few times until he got angry then it stayed on our selected sound. We went back to sleep. An hour or so later it turned off then on again and was back at the brook sound. It then turned itself off and on a few more times before we turned it off and chucked it across the room. It does NOT have a plug — it’s battery powered and the batteries were not old. We thought nothing really of it until we checked out 2 days later and thought to ask if the place was really haunted. The clerk said yes, and the room we stayed in was one of the notable rooms — 211! I bet if we had gone in knowing it was haunted nothing would have happened but because we were clueless the spirit had a fun time with us that night, until my fiance had had enough lol!

  3. I am staying in room 310 as I write this. We heard there are some haunted rooms and asked to be put in one durring this stay. The moment we walked in the light flickered and buzzed. My boyfriend is a mechanic and he made sure there wasn’t a loose bulb or plug but it still flickers and buzzes. Out heating unit kept switching to A/C, my medication had been moved out of my suitcase and onto the bathroom sink, but hidden under a wash cloth. The first night my boyfriend had something tap him on each shoulder during the night. It woke him up both times, and both times I was asleep and facing the opposite direction.

The wife and me were newlyweds and stayed there in 2013. The wife was in bathroom and she dropped something three times in about a minutes time. I was in bed and called out to her what do you keep dropping? She said I keep putting it on the shelf and it keeps falling off! I suspected there was activity in the bath. She came to bed and before I fell asleep the tolit seat fell to the bowl and it was quite loud. Immediately went to the bath and the lid and seat were in the up position. Went back to bed and within a few minutes a women’s voice spoke to me and said,,, Don’t ever leave Cindy, you will never meet anyone like her. She spoke it so sweet to me. I cherish the words she spoke to me. My wife has issues that at times last week’s and are difficult to live with. But what she spoke to me that night was so powerful in my spirit it takes me through those times.I did ask her why she remains and does not move on. No reply. Hope to visit her again in our future.

  5. i took this photo recently while visiting and a bunch of white dots appeared all over while i had been taking photos outside at night, but all other photos did not show white dots. it really left me boggled. at first i thought it was snow but realized it’s not snowing. very weird. i don’t know much about history of this area in town so wasn’t looking for anything haunted, but I believe these are orbs. what do you think? let me know what these could be and why so many of them.

Visited Jim Thorpe, PA yesterday with the family and my husband took many pictures but, when we got home and looked at this picture we noticed an apparition in the second floor window. What do you see? Jim Thorpe, PA while beautiful it is a very eerie town,

  7. Stayed at the inn this past weekend in room 217. I totally forgot the place was haunted and it wasn’t even a blip in my mind. My husband returned home and the second night i was alone enjoying time away from taking care of my parents. Was sleeping peacefully until 4am when i felt a depression in the bed by my feet and immediately a mans voice yelled in my ear “HEY YOU!” i could feel his breath on my face!! I screamed and jumped, turned on the TV for some light…and nothing. When i mentioned to a staff member they said there is a lot of activity on the 2nd floor. Happy Birthday Surprise to me, holy crap.
