Spooky Table at the Weaver House

You are here Home  > Miscellaneous >  Spooky Table at the Weaver House

Local legend has it that when the Weavers purchased a table in 1937, they bought a ghost along with it. The table is said to have made rapping noises and caused other disturbances until a minister’s wife quieted it by reading from the Bible. A spiritualist consulted by the Weavers determined that the table was once used in a séance and became possessed by a confused spirit. *Note* This is a private residence; do not visit without permission.

  1. I’m only a teenager now but when I was just born my parents and my sister lived in a house that I don’t remember at all. Although my family stayed there for about 5 years I haven’t heard much about it. I was looking at it and I asked about it and other than just a deserted ‘man cave’ I learned for the first time of a ghost. Apparently there are two walk in closets in a bedroom thing, side by side. My dad told me that he would hear footsteps pacing back and forth in the closet and banging coming from inside the closet trying to be let out. He also said that he saw the ghost once. He said that he was down doing laundry when he saw what he described as a seventy year old man who was about 5″6 and wearing worker overalls with a torn flannel coat.My dad yelled at him to get out, not going to let a strange old man wonder around his family. He said he blinked and he vanished. We moved out when i was only a few months old and my dad met up with the then current owner and started dancing around actually asking and apparently the owner said ” oh you mean the ghost?” so we know it wasn’t just us. The address is 2805, 43rd street in Des Moines.
