  1. I live near here and have heard of the screams all of my life. My Great Aunt & Uncle were caretakers of the house in the 50’s, so the stories were handed down through my family. A couple of summers ago, I was taking 4 teenage relatives for a night walk to Pettigrew Cemetery, (near Somerset) as we walked passed the house we heard the scream…we heard it three times that night. I’d always heard about it but, never actually heard it. It was not an owl, it definitely came from the house…it was sad, sounded like a tortured spirit.

  2. My ancestors were enslaved @ somerset place. I have beeb there many of times for our family reunion. And I can agree the plantation is, I believe the whole outer outer banks is haunted. I have taken pictures at the plantation and when was pleasantly surprised to see a orb in some of the pics. Shame they done allow ghost tours there.

  3. I came from Oregon with a tree removal crew after hurricane Irene came through, and we stayed at the near by campground. At night time during our stay, we would hear songs being whistled. Never heard the screams though.

  4. My ancestors were enslaved at Somerset unfortunately. We go there for our annual family reunion.. that place has spirit’s and tons of energy. I’ve taken pictures and got orbs in the background while on a tour of the main house. I think the whole south is haunted especially the Outer Banks.

  5. I’ve been there at night to just walk along the brick paths with a friend and we kept hearing the sound of someone walking with us but behind us. We soon heard voices and screams, so we quickly left. It’s definitely haunted!

  6. You know when they were renovating the main house. the people would make sure the house was “tucked in” at night. Every window and door inside and out closed and locked. In the mornings they would come in and every door to the hall cabinets on the second floor would be open. Don’t figure, huh?
