Rhododendron Village

You are here Home  > Miscellaneous >  Rhododendron Village

At this 1800s camping site for pioneers traveling the Oregon Trail, folks have reported strange sounds, doors opening and slamming, lights turning on and off, and floating orbs and other haunts who appear later in photographs. All the hubbub may stem from the fact that several graves were located during a restoration process.

  1. While staying over night at a friends house on Sleepy Hollow Rd. we were terrified to hear the sound of a person dragging a big chain or wearing a clanging suit of armor outside our locked bed room door. We were terrified, and I wanted to jump out the window and run for home. Home was at least 5 miles away! The next morning we woke to find my red jacket tidied in knots, thrown over the kitchen chair. The telling of it still leaves me wondering why some spirit or ghost or real person would terrify two young school girls so severely. I would never to this day stay all night on sleep hollow road, about 5 miles west of Rhododendron! Glenda Barbre
