Purple Porpoise / Gator City Grille

You are here Home  > Miscellaneous >  Purple Porpoise / Gator City Grille

The Purple Porpoise was a Gainesville institution for years, until it shut down in 2002. According to some, a female student was brutally murdered in the upstairs bathroom of this building in the 1960s, and her spirit (and possibly that of her killer) still remains in the tiny upstairs hallway. Some females report being attacked by a malevolent spirit while up there.

Now the Gator City Grille resides in the same building. No word on whether or not the new owners have experienced any paranormal activity.

  1. I was a bouncer at the porpoise from 2000-2002 and I have slept in the upstairs room by that bathroom several times ( more than ten ) and there have been several nights that you would feel like someone was in the room with you and on two nights I got a weird chill for no reason. I don’t know if the place is haunted or not but something was going on.

  2. I work at the resturant next to Gator City/Envy. I went into Envy to use the restroom one night, it was just me inside this half of the building. I felt this sudden rush of air behind me, and this soft “hhhhey” right in my ear. I whirled around, no one was there, just this weird freaky feeling. I found out recently about the murder in the bathroom in gator city, our cups and lids are all stored in there. .___.

  3. Paranormal Investigation Team aka PIT will be doing an investigation very soon! We look forward to working with the owner and see if we can validate the many claims of activity. Or put this urban legion to rest.

  4. Why do these groups do investigations yet they don’t know or have anyone assaciated with them that can rid these places of the spirits? I like rooting for demonic entities to possess these jackholes and have their lives ruined. It’s only fair, you want proof, have your life turned upside down for harassing these poor souls.
