Port Isabel Historical Museum inside the Champion Building was constructed in 1899 as a dry goods store and a private home. It houses Mexican artifacts from the U.S.-Mexican War and sports a well-known fish mural painted a local fisherman in 1906. The museum is thought to be haunted by a ghost cat and a little boy.

We went to the museum since our daughter did not want to do a boat tour. First floor was fine, but as soon as we went in our daughter was drawn to second floor. Ran upstairs to chase and immediately had this CREEPY feeling. Grabbed my daughter and told her we were leaving ASAP. She was very odd and resistant – as soon as we went back to first floor she ran up again. It was for sure scary and even scarier to find out its haunted after our visit.
