Point Isabel Lighthouse

You are here Home  > Lighthouses >  Point Isabel Lighthouse

The Point (Port) Isabel Lighthouse, built in 1852, was used temporarily by Civil War soldiers from both sides as a look-out post. Its light was extinguished in 1905 and the land was purchased by a private owner and was eventually preserved as a historic site. Now, a ghostly Lighthouse Angel is said to reside here, seen by many visitors, and many disembodied voices have been recorded.

    1. I was the last visitor last week and decided to take a quick recording before I came down. There were two people in the lighthouse, myself and the lady at the front door. I asked if there was anyone here that wanted to make their presence known and although I didn’t hear anything at the time when I played it back I heard three distinctly loud sounds similar to a door slam but escalating in nature. Each one louder than the one before.
