Pioneer Hotel

A fire broke out in the hotel in the 70’s and killed almost 30 people. It seems that many believe that at least some of those who perished in the fire have stayed behind and continue to haunt the hotel.

    1. Worked on the 11th Floor for several years, when it was a Law Office. Lots of things happened. My pencils and pens would disappear and then the next day they were all over. My flower pot would be put on top of my typewriter. The copier would go off spitting paper when no one was attending it. One morning another secretary and I got in the elevator, she was going to the 7th flr and I to 11th The 7 and 11 bottons came on automatically without us pushng them. She got off on the 7th flr and told me “thank God I don’t have to ride with it all by myself”. When I got to the 11th flr. The door would not open until I asked politely if it could please open it.
Another time at 5 pm. The receptionist and I were waiting for the elevator when there was a cold breeze and I felt someone touch my cheek. Sometimes we could see a cloud reflecting on the cooper ceiling in the elevator. I would always ask it if there was something it wanted me to do. I used to think that it was children. I understood that the Jacome children died in the fire on the 11th flr.
Never, ever go down in the basement.

    2. I used to do janitorial at this building. It is now offices. It is spook city! The stairwells give off a really bad vibe. I understand a number of people died in the stairwells. Lights go on or off by themselves. All kinds of strange noises can be heard and the basement seems to be real evil, like hell or something. I quit cleaning that building after having a boom box go on by itself and it was playing, Talking Heads, “Burning Down the House”. I swear!

      • The basement is one of the scariest places in tucson and I have stayed the night at 343 south Scott ave which u should know is the Santa Rita hotel which is now arizona theater company but I would say that the pioneer basement scariest by far

    3. I worked at the Plaza Pub downstairs bar (basement).. I used to use the old hotel employee restrooms under the building… It is so creepy there.walking that long hallway….always felt like someone was right behind me.. I used to turn around constantly or even run back… I once saw the ghost of a 7 or 8 year old girl in the basement bar… I thought maybe she got separated from her mom.. I asked he and she would not answer… When she went up to the ground floor I followed right behind her and when I got up there she was nowhere to be found
..also the kitchen staff always reported seeing a man in a top hat in the kitchen area

    4. Hello there! I worked in the Pioneer Building for almost 2 years. I can tell you, for sure, that the building is haunted. My coworkers saw spirits moving across the office across my shoulder. Our portraits were always moved when we’d come in early in the morning. I had a stereo player on my desk with an iPod connector, and the device used to broadcast voices and sounds, even when shut off.
