Peterborough Lift Lock has a ghost and a curse set by an unknown woman who was burned at the stake in the 1840s. The ghost has been known to attack men, and the curse is said to have caused many accidents here. Ghosts of those who have committed suicide here have been seen. Witnesses also have reported screams, footsteps, unexplained odors, strange lights and faces peering out of the tunnels. The site was featured on Creepy Canada.
