Oriskany Battlefield State Historic Site, where the Revolutionary War Battle of Oriskany was fought in 1777, is believed to be haunted by spirits who lived during the site’s trying times. Employees say a bad smell comes from the woods where the British slew Gen. Herkimer’s advance party. Also, there is a men’s restroom door in the visitors center that is occasionally slammed shut by a shadowy figure. Lights, orbs, musket fire and screams are also said to be heard in the vicinity.

  1. I used to live across the street and one night my wife and I heard a stampede of horses out the window on the battlefield it was unmistakeable but there are and were no horses there

  2. I have talked to a lot of people who have had experiences there. I finally went. The gully area, where the ambush happened, has a feeling too it. We went on a hot summer day, it felt cold there.

  3. my buddy and I went there a few months ago, ware into Military History and we traveled to many battlefields from the Revolutionary War. to name a few a few weeks ago we went to Fort Ticonderoga and Fort William Henry crown point any way we came on the anniversary of the battle and after my buddy and I walked the ambush trail we smelled the horrible stench and for an 88 degree day we got cold and topped sweating and we saw our breaths at that point we new that the soldiers and natives were with us. my buddy is also part native

  4. I went there and took a picture of the moment and in the corner of the picture there is this blue orb that I happened to catch in the process.
