Although it hardly looks like it, this mostly empty-looking plot of land is actually a pauper’s cemetery. In fact, the cemetery was almost completely forgotten until county officials researching the area for possible development in 1996 discovered its true use in old documents. Roughly 522 people were buried there between 1907 and 1961, according to the Orlando Sentinel. A stone marker was placed there in the late 1990s to show proper respect for the area.
There is at least one claim of paranormal activity here – a shadow figure was seen, and a generally foreboding feeling was felt when a man went into the cemetery to investigate it.
